Rachel Dultz is the team leader for the 2020-2021 State Route 29 and County Route 579 Intersection Redesign. Rachel will oversee all major aspects of the project while focusing her design work on the State Route 29 and Sanhican Drive roundabout, including County Route 579 and Mt. Vernon Avenue. As the team leader, Rachel will also be responsible for keeping the project on track with the timeline, ensuring the budget is not exceeded and reviewing all project documents. Rachel will also take on the lead role in all presentations and proposals for the project.

 

Rachel is a senior civil engineering student at The College of New Jersey. She has gained engineering experience interning with Suburban Consulting Engineers, Inc. for two years. At the college, she is a founding member and the executive scribe for the professional engineering fraternity Theta Tau, a member of the student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and a member of the field hockey team.

Nick Chiavoni is a senior Civil Engineering student at the College of New Jersey. As a member of the Route 29 Intersection Redesign project, Nick is responsible for redesigning the intersection of Sullivan Way and Hilvista Boulevard; a major approach to Route 29. He is currently employed by the NJDOT and works with the Wireless Communications Unit as an Engineering Technician inspecting wireless facilities.  After graduation, Nick would like to peruse a career in transportation engineering.

Ryan Maffia is a team member for the Intersection Redesign. Ryan's main focus is the design work for the Edgewood Avenue, Bruce Park Drive and West State Street. He will perform traffic counts to gather data and later use this information in Synchro. Additionally, Ryan will use AutoCAD software to create a redesign of the intersection. 

 

Ryan is a senior civil engineering student at The College of New Jersey. Over the past three summers Ryan has gained experience as a geotechnical intern and a field technician at Duffield Associates. At The College of New Jersey, he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Mark Esposito will work on redesigning the traffic circle at the intersection of Route 29 and County Road, in order to help clear congestion of traffic in the traffic circle. This will be done using the traffic simulation software Synchro, as well as AutoCAD to redesign the traffic traffic circle, and surrounding roads.

Mark is a Senior at The College of New Jersey. After graduation he is looking to pursue a career in either transportation or structural engineering. He is currently the Editor and Webmaster of TCNJ’s chapter of the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honors Society, and a member of ASCE and ITE.

Dr. Brennan holds a Bachelor’s and a Doctoral Degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, and a Master’s Degree in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering from George Mason University. Dr. Brennan is originally from National Park, NJ, and is a 1992 Graduate of Gateway Regional High School. He is currently an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at TCNJ, with research in Transportation Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
